Abigail at the Luau

Abigail is at a luau at Sea Life Park in Hawaii. She goes off to the bathroom but gets lost and wanders through “employees only” door (she can’t read).  She ends up being tossed through the burning hoops by the fire dancers. We are sitting in the back so we can’t really see what it is. She comes back to us after a while and doesn’t say anything, but she has little burn marks on her pants. And then a kid comes up and says – “Wow, that was really gnarly what you did – jumping between those flaming hoops." Dada hears that an gives Abigail a long time out.

Abigail and the Dolphins

We are on a cruise ship that has an aquatic show. Abigail has to go to the bathroom as usual, but wanders in the wrong door. We are in the audience wondering where she is when we watch the dolphin and sea lion show. The dolphins start tossing a ball around. Then they begin throwing what looks like a rat through a hoop. Then a sea lion starts dragging around the “rat.” The show ends with a grand finale where the dolphin pushes the rat high into the air and the sea lion catches it and balances it on his nose. The show ends and we are still looking for Abigail. Suddenly we hear this squish, squish sound and Abigail walks up soaking wet. Dada looks at her and sees small bite marks on her arms. A kid comes up and high fives her – “That was awesome dude!”  Dada gives Abigail a long time out.

Abigail and the Magician

We are at a magic show. Abigail needs to go to the bathroom. She wanders off. There are two doors. One says “Ladies,” one says “Employees only.” She can’t read so she goes in the wrong one. She walks past a security lady who is busy watching Glee on her ipad. The magic show starts and the magician starts pulling stuff out of a hat. First there are scarfs, then cards, a book, a lamp, a computer, and all of a sudden Abigail pops out of the hat and goes “ta da!” The crowd goes crazy. Abigail does a little jig on stage and disappears behind the curtains. She returns to Dada and the others. The magician comes up to us when he sees Abigail – a crowd had gathered around. Emily says to the magician, “Wow, that hat trick was amazing. I just don’t know how you pulled so much stuff out of that little hat.” The magician says ‘It was magic.”

Abigail says – "No, there’s actually a little door under the stage that I crawled through." “What?” says the magician. Dada says “Abigail - you aren’t supposed to give away the secret.”

– "But it’s true Dada I just crawled through the little door…” "

Abigail! You are getting a long time out.”

Abigail at the Chinese New Years Parade

We are at the Chinese New Years Parade n Honolulu. Abigail has to go to the bathroom. She goes in the wrong door. She sees all the Chinese kids putting on their dragon costumes. We’re looking around for Abigail when the parade begins. First come the big dragons, then the medium ones. Then comes this tiny little dragon that keeps snapping it’s mouth open. And people keep putting dollar bills in. Everyone is going crazy. Emily asks to put a dollar in the little dragon’s mouth. The parade ends and we’re like “Abigail missed the parade, where is she?” Then she wanders back with her pockets bulging. A little chinese kid comes by and says some words in Chinese and gives her a high five. We don’t know what to think. Then we’re driving out of the parking lot and we see the little Chinese kid with his family. The windows are down and he says something else in Chinese and gives her another high five – so does his dad and his mom. We’e like “What’s going on?” Then Abigail starts taking dollar bills out of her pockets and counting them. Dada figures out what happens and says “Abigail, you aren’t keeping that money. It’s going to the Chinese charity.” Abigail says “That’s unfair, that boy got to keep his money. I earned it.” Dada calls over the family gives them the money to give to the charity – and Abigail gets a long time out.

Abigail and the Christmas Presents

We are at the Homestead for Christmas. Abigail sees all the presents under the huge tree in the lobby and decides to sneak off to open them up. She is at dinner and asks to go to the bathroom. Then she doesn't return. The front desk guy sees her walk past with a piece of toilet paper stuck to her shoe. She walks up to the tree and starts opening the presents (which are of course empty) -- a crowd gathers. Emily & Dada wonder what all the commotion is - then they see all the open presents and Abigail half way up the tree trying to open an ornament that looks like a present -- the TP is still stuck to her shoe. Dada says -- "Abigail J!"

Abigail & the Lighthouse

Abigail and her family are in Maine. They go on a little boat trip from their island to visit a lighthouse. Abigail is playing her leapster the whole time. They get to the island and the lapser is low on batteries. The other kids are playing tag, hide n seek, etc, but Abigail wants to find an outlet to charge her leapster. There is a lighthouse there so Abigail wanders off and goes up the tight steps. She sees a little compartment in the wall and looks inside -- there's a big plug sticking into the wall with tape over it. She removes the tape and pulls and pulls until the plug comes out and plugs her leapster in. She sits there and plays while the leapster charges. Then she hears Dada calling and unplugs her leapster, but forgets to put the other plug back in. She goes back down the tight, circular stairway.

That night they visit their neighbors, the "Turkeybottoms." Mr Turkeybottom, who is with the Coast Guad Auxillary is very large. The fog is rolling in. Usually the lighthouse starts up - weird. Suddenly Mr. Turkeybottom's radio comes to life -- It's a boater who's lost in the fog. "Lester, Lester, you there? What's going on with the lighthouse? I don't hear it. The boats are stacking up out here" Turkeybottom jumps into action, rushes out to his dock and looks over toward Burnt Island -- sure enough the lighthouse isn't working. "What could have happened? I guess this means I'm on duty." He finishes his dinner and takes off for Burnt.

Abigail & Dada and the others stay behind and finish their dinner. After about 30 minutes they start wondering what's up with Lester. They call on the radio - no answer. So they head over to Burnt and start up the lighthouse stairs. They hear a commotion at the top of the steps. They reach the top and they see that Lester is stuck in the compartment. They pull on his legs and get him out. Then they put the plug back in and the lighthouse fires up. "I just don't understand how this could've happened -- must be mice or something. But there was tape on it and everything." Abigail stands there and looks sheepish. Dada notices - "Abigail, what is it?" I needed a place to plug in my leapster and I forgot .... Abigail Jellyjeans Nickles!! -- Do you understand how dangerous that could be -- the boats don't know there are rocks here -- you are definitely losing a privilege.
